It's my newest pattern... giving some random guy more chances than are due. Trying desperately to find a connection that doesn't exist. My gut, rock solid, and is pretty intuitive. It tells me when something is wrong, and inevitably, once again, it is.
After months of date after date after date, I am still Andrea party of 1. This truly doesn't upset me. I enjoy my time alone. I like my place, my work, my friends, my family. My life is full. I often question why I continue to pursue the illusive goal of love, and yet not matter how full my life I still have a void.
This is the only explanation as to why I persist in dating, when I know my date inevitably isn't the one who will complement my life fully. I meet someone. We go out. I am constantly assessing throughout the date: does he have potential, what are his intentions, is he a narcissist, does he shower regularly, etc. My gut tells me no and that something is not quite right, and yet I talk myself out of my hesitations and continue pursuing said person. After several weeks, the issues become more glaring and sadly end up validating my fears and distrust. 'Oh, you didn't reach out because you were dating someone before you started dating me?" "So, what you are saying is, you want me to be the other woman?" Or maybe it was "Oh, you went to a bar and met someone else, that really interests you as well?" At what point in time, did I become a person that you can walk all over? I guess that happened when I decided to make another exception.
Now comes my newest conundrum. The situation I ultimately find myself in is incredibly irritating. How do I respond when I am once again disappointed with yet another man who lacks loyalty and maturity. I have always been considered the "cool chick." The one who gets along with all the guys, because I don't "bitch and moan." I don't fight or cause drama. I play it cool and end up coming across and one bad ass super cool chick. I must do this to impress the fucktards who ultimately hurt me, as well as for the image that not all women are dramatic when faced with disappointing men. But, why the hell do I give a shit about what their perceptions are? Because men talk to other men, and they talk to other women. All this talk is about crazy women on the dating scene. How they "flipped out." My question is... Who causes the woman to flip out? Was it because you were untrue or insensitive? Why are women made to feel less for expressing their frustrations at being mistreated? If men want to fuck around and have no one get attached perhaps they should stick with their own sex. I'm so sick of men calling out women who merely showed them a mirror and they didn't like what they saw.
If only I didn't crave the feelings of love so desperately. Does that make me a desperate woman? I don't feel lonely. I just miss loving and being loved. I know how deep the water runs, and I want it to be consumed again.
